| I have an aftermarket autometer oil pressure gauge, while the factory gauge (new oem sender) does not rise much above the 80ish mark when cold my autometer registers about 100psi at first start up. This is on a fresh rebuild with oem bearing clearances. I'm using Shell Rotella T6 5w40. I do not want to imagine a 20w50 on cold start up. There is going to be so much unnecessary wear on the components as the oil is so thick. I guess the 20w50 might not be so evil if you live somewhere where it's always 90* outside. Also a 50 might leave you with too high of an oil pressure once at operating temperature, higher oil pressure =/= better protection. You should use a thinner oil to achieve better protection. A general guideline is about 10psi per 1,000rpm. So with the Z redline of 7200-7500rpm we might want about 70-75psi near redline. Too high oil pressure will just kick the oil bypass in too quickly.
